UltraSurf and its parent organization, Global Internet Freedom Consortium (GIF), are committed to providing uncensored access to Internet for users in repressive regimes, including Iran and China. GIF is largely supported by people who have been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime for practicing Falun Gong, a peaceful meditation exercise also known as Falun Dafa. It has largely been Falun Gong practitioners’ compassionate support that has kept GIF running.

In the past weeks, UltraSurf and GIF have been working the hardest to provide Iranians free, fast access to the Internet, because we ourselves are victims of Internet censorship. Unfortunately, due to the huge amount of traffic from Iran, GIF has quickly exhausted its human and financial resources, and is not able to keep this level of service anymore. Therefore we have to reduce UltraSurf’s capacity, effective immediately.

In the past several years, GIF has been working very hard looking for support from government agencies. But it seems most politicians do not understand how critical our services are to users living in repressive regimes. We are asking you to post comments on how UltraSurf and other GIF services, including FreeGate, have been helping you, at http://hfh.edoors.com/bigbigs/addentry.php. You are also encouraged to petition on Twitter, Facebook, or other media with which you communicate to the world.
